Miracle Morning

About a year ago I met a woman who had both recently divorced and retired. She told me that she felt "aimless" as she frittered away her days since these major changes in her life. She lacked structure. If I had seen her again, I would have recommended that she experiment with the "Miracle Morning" process.

In my experience one of the best ways to feel on purpose and to create a meaningful life is to implement the "Miracle Morning" process. Created by Hal Elrod, author of the book with the same name (and an entire series of books using the same concept and targeting different audiences), the six action steps of the Miracle Morning kickstart your day powerfully.

As a result, the rest of your day often moves forward more smoothly and productively. Elrod developed the Miracle Morning process to bounce back and triumph after experiencing major trauma.

When I consistently practice the Miracle Morning's "S.A.V.E.R.S." regimen described below, my days flow and I get more done! I have been doing this routine almost daily for the past couple of years. If a miss a day or so, I feel incomplete, less grounded, and much less productive.

How we live each day determines how we live our entire life.

So what is the Miracle Morning exactly?

The acronym S.A.V.E.R.S. presents the morning routine's six steps described below. You can spent one to 10 minutes for each step. If your time is tight- take one minute for each step. If your schedule is more open, take up to 10 minutes for each one. So the process can take from six to 60 minutes - based on your schedule.

S - Spend time in silence - for meditation, prayer, reflection, deep breathing, and gratitude. This helps to calm and center you before you launch into the busyness of the day.

A -Take time for affirmations or afformations (which are affirmations stated as questions - such as "Why is it so easy for me to do my best work?"). Affirmations begin your day with a positive mindset.

V- Take time to visualize - visualize yourself going through your day with grace, ease, and motivation. Visualization is like a dress rehearsal for how you want to operate and boosts your chances of achieving that.

E-Take time for exercise - stretch, strength, move - your body needs to move ESPECIALLY after age 50 to maintain vibrant physical and emotional health.

R- Take time to read - any book that will educate or inspire you in some way and stretch your mind. Reading daily enables you to keep learning and growing.

S - Take time to "scribe" or journal. Journaling is therapeutic. It gives you an opportunity to get your thoughts/feelings/questions on paper and to release concerns as well as capture your ideas.

Consider trying the Miracle Morning routine next week!
